Residency Support Staff
The Residency Support Staff consists of the
Residency Program
Director, Associate Residency Program Director,
Residency
Coordinator and Chief Resident(s). This group
is responsible for
the day-to-day operations of the residency program
as well as
recruitment procedures.
Residency Program Director
Richard (Sal) Salcido, M.D. (richard.salcido@uphs.upenn.edu)
Dr. Salcido is responsible for the overall
administration of the
residency program. He also is the Chair of the
Department of
Rehabilitation Medicine. He serves as the representative
for the
residency program both inside and outside of
the Department
and the University. Activities include all aspects
of residency
program management as specified in ACGME standards
for
PM&R residency training. His Program Director
activities are
coordinated through the Chairmans Office at
(215) 662-3620.

Stephanie Niemi (stephanie.niemi@uphs.upenn.edu)
The residency coordinator duties include maintaining
all current and past resident files, assisting
residents with licensure and credentialing through
the University GME office, processing resident
educational expenses, coordinating resident
evaluation procedures, serving as administrative
staff to the Education Committee, and serving
as point of contact for the residency program.

Chief Resident(s)
The Chief Residents serve as a liaison between
residents and
faculty, while also serving as a role model
for other residents.
Administrative duties include preparation and
maintenance of the on-call schedule, supervision
of resident vacation/leave planning, serving
as the departmental representative to the University
Chief Residents Forum and attending Education
Committee and Faculty meetings. Educational
responsibilities include assisting in creating
the clinical rotation/didactic/chief round schedule
and working closely with faculty course directors
in implementing the didactic curriculum.
