The Renal-Electrolyte and Hypertension Division offers diagnostic evaluation and clinical management for patients with acute or chronic kidney diseases, renal failure, hypertension, diabetic nephropathy, glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, interstitial nephritis, electrolyte and acid-based disturbances, hematuria, proteinuria, and kidney stones.

The HUP Renal Practice treats patients with diverse renal diseases, such as hematuria, proteinuria, chronic kidney disease, diabetic nephropathy, hypertension, recurrent urinary tract infections, renovascular disease, renal tubular abnormalities, fluid and electrolyte disorders, glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, anti-GBM disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis, and interstitial nephritis. Patients cared for as children at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) are often seen here when they reach adulthood.
Complex Hypertension Program

This program evaluates and treats patients with high blood pressure and provides primary care and referral in areas related to endocrinology, pharmacology, and renal and cardiovascular medicine. Special interests include renal artery stenosis, pheochromocytoma, hyperaldosteronism and carcinoid syndrome.
Kidney Stone Clinic

This center is dedicated to the treatment and prevention of kidney stones in patients with a history of stone formation. Patients are evaluated for the cause and type of their stones, risk factors, drug and diet history, and treatment is tailored to the specific problem.

The PPMC Renal Practice treats patients with diverse renal diseases, such as hematuria, proteinuria, chronic kidney disease, diabetic nephropathy, hypertension, kidney stones, renovascular disease, fluid and electrolyte disorders, glomerulonephritis, and nephrotic syndrome.
Outpatient Dialysis Programs
The Penn Renal-Electrolyte and Hypertension provides care for in center and Home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients at 4 dialysis facilities that are owned and operated by Davita, Inc.

Renal Transplant Program
This program provides pretransplant evaluation for living-related and deceased-donor kidney transplants, post-transplant care in both ambulatory and in-patient settings, and consultation for patients with non-renal solid organ transplants with chronic kidney disease. Transplants are performed by surgeons in the Department of Surgery's Transplantation Division and cared for jointly by both groups.
