Our surgeons are nationally recognized as experts in the management of cancers of the gastrointestinal tract (esophagus, liver, stomach, pancreas, colon and rectum), skin (melanoma), and soft tissues (sarcoma). We specialize in the appropriate use of laparoscopic approaches to the treatment of disorders of the liver and spleen as well as traditional approaches to the management of other gastrointestinal and abdominal malignancies. We have one of the busiest esophageal cancer programs in the region. To optimize our treatment outcomes, we work closely with our colleagues in thoracic surgery to provide state-of –the-art surgical treatment. We also offer highly specialized techniques for the management of other malignant disorders as well, including isolated limb perfusion for extremity melanoma and sarcoma, placement of intra-arterial hepatic infusion pumps, radiofrequency ablation for liver tumors, and sentinal lymph node mapping for breast cancer and melanoma.
When it comes to patient care, we put our patients first. We work with specialists in oncology, radiation oncology, gastroenterology and nutrition support to formulate a treatment plan for each individual patient. We welcome all patients to our practices. We care for people with routine cancers as well as those with complex medical problems and challenging malignancies.
While we aim for cure, we also recognize that our understanding of some tumors is too limited to eradicate them using today’s therapies. Therefore, our surgical oncologists are also dedicated investigators. Through our studies, we have already answered questions that have improved outcomes for a variety of cancers. As our research efforts continue, we seek to provide hope to those patients who we can not cure today but might be able to cure in the tomorrow.
