Patti
Abbott has been a Physician’s Assistant since 1984. At that time she worked at Duke University Medical Center. She was involved in all aspects of a surgical practice treating—inpatient,
outpatient, research, operating room-- lung cancer patients. She was also a clinician in the multidiscipline breast cancer
center. In 1988 she
joined the Cardiothoracic Division at HUP. In 1993, she joined the Thoracic Surgery Division where she
continues to co-ordinate the efforts of the clinical practice as
well as some of the academic interests. The division is also quite active in clinical trials in both
the treatment of lung cancer as well as some of the technical aspects
of thoracic surgery.
