Nancy Folsom has been a registered nurse since 1981. She started her career at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and worked there in the operating room for 20 years. At the time of her departure in 2001, she was working primarily with the plastic surgeons as the plastic surgery specialty nurse. The opportunity arose in 2001 for her to join the Division of Plastic Surgery at The Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania. She saw this as a chance to complete the circle by working with adults undergoing plastic surgery. She has worked as the nurse manager since that time performing patient care for a variety of patients undergoing plastic surgical procedures. These include but are not limited to: breast reconstruction, abdominoplasty, body contouring, facial rejuvenation, patients with skin cancer with a focus on melanoma, and various hand surgical procedures.
Working at Penn has offered her many opportunities to learn so much about the care and the essential need for teamwork. She enjoys working actively with the American Society of Plastic Surgical Nurses on both the National and local level. |
