David Jones is an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner for the Department of Surgery – Cardiothoracic Surgery since 2006 . He has practiced in a variety of critical care settings throughout his nursing career including Trauma, Open Heart/Cardiac Intensive Care, Emergency Department, Air Medical Transport and pre-hospital advanced life support. He continues his role as a flight nurse with the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center's PennSTAR Flight Program which consists of 5 emergency critical care transport helicopters that serve as an integral role in the care of the critical care and trauma patients throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. David’s future interests include research/development of educational enhancement of prehospital management of the cardiothoracic surgery candidate as well as aortic emergencies. Additional interests include research in Prevention and Management of Blunt/Penetrating Aortic Injuries. David grew up in Northeast Pennsylvania and is currently living in the Lehigh Valley. Outside Interests include travel, movies and 18th century American History.
