Stephen J. Kovach, III, MD joins the University of Pennsylvania Health System as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Prior to joining the University of Pennsylvania faculty, Dr. Kovach completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania and medical school at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. Dr. Kovach completed his general surgery training and basic science research fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Center and is Board Certified in General Surgery. Dr. Kovach went on to complete his plastic surgery training at Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Kovach has appointments at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center, Pennsylvania Hospital, and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. His practice includes both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery with a special interest in reconstructive microsurgery of oncologic and traumatic defects.
