Dr. Nicole M. Saur is an Assistant Professor within the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery with practices at Pennsylvania Hospital, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and her medical degree from the University of North Dakota.   She completed General Surgery Residency at Tufts Medical Center and Fellowship in Colon & Rectal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Florida. Dr. Saur’s clinical interests and areas of specialization include advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques for colon & rectal cancer, advanced endoscopy and local excisions for colon and rectal polyps, benign colon and anorectal disease, complex re-operations, sphincter-preserving procedures for rectal cancer, and surgical management of inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic floor disorders. Her research interests include post-operative outcomes in colon and rectal surgery with specific interest in the effect of hyperglycemia and glycemic control on post-operative outcomes in cancer patients and surgical outcomes in the elderly.  Dr. Saur is board certified in General Surgery and Colon & Rectal Surgery. She is also an active member of numerous local and national medical societies.
