Dr. Prashanth Vallabhajosyula received his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science in molecular biophysics and biochemistry,
along with his Doctor of Medicine degrees from Yale University, New Haven, CT. He completed his residency in general surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD. During this period, he did
a clinical fellowship in upper gastrointestinal surgery at Oxford-Radcliffe Hospitals, Oxford, United Kingdom.

He attended the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania for a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery, and completed a sub-specialization year in aortic surgery, along with endovascular and minimally invasive techniques. His surgical interests are in aortic surgery, endovascular surgery and thoracic organ transplantation.

Dr. Vallabhajosyula maintains an interest in molecular immunology, and to this effect he will be establishing a basic science effort during his tenure. He served as a research assistant at Yale School of Medicine and at the National Institutes of Health. He completed a research fellowship at Harvard Medical School, in the laboratory of Dr. Laurie Glimcher, looking at transcription factor regulation of developmental processes in the immune system. During his surgical residency, he also did a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School, under Dr. David Sachs, in a large animal transplantation laboratory.

He has received numerous awards for excellence in surgery and research, including the John Cameron Award for surgical and technical
excellence in general surgery, the National Institutes of Health/Ruth L. Kirschstein Research Service Award Grant, the American Society of
Transplant Surgeons’ Roche Laboratories Scientist Research Grant and the American College of Surgeons Grant.
