Dr. Ullery is currently a chief resident in the general surgery program. He completed his undergraduate studies at Northwestern University and received his medical education at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City. Prior to arriving at Penn, Dr. Ullery actively pursued a variety of research endeavors, including exploring the viability of cardiac surgery in nonagenarians, stem cell-induced restoration of myocardium, as well as determining predictors and outcome variables associated with life-sustaining therapy discussions in the surgical intensive care unit. His research efforts were recognized with graduate honors from Cornell, and he was the recipient of both the G. Thomas Shires Prize in Surgery and the Dean William Mecklenburg Polk Research Prize. At Penn, Dr. Ullery continues to be an active clinical researcher.  He has had the opportunity to present at multiple regional and national meetings on neurologic complications following thoracic endovascular aortic repair.  He will begin fellowship training in vascular surgery at Stanford University in July 2013.
