Dr. Morris is the Ernest F. Rosato-William Maul Measey Professor in Surgical Education and is the Program Director for General Surgery Residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

His principle clinical interest is gastrointestinal surgery including inflammatory and neoplastic disorders of the alimentary tract, minimally invasive surgery, and surgical nutrition. Other major interests are undergraduate and graduate surgical education. Research interests have focused on the pathophysiology of mesenteric circulation.
