CY4 Elective ‐ Botswana

The University of Pennsylvania Department of Surgery offers a clinical elective in the fourth clinical year of residency to the surgical department of Princess Marina Hospital—the main referral hospital in Gaborone, Botswana. Our residents are supervised by Dr. Georges Azzie, who holds a primary appointment at the University of Toronto with an adjunct appointment at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Azzie has a long-standing relationship with Princess Marina Hospital and the Ministry of Health in Botswana. This elective aims to provide residents with a deeper understanding of the issues and challenges in global surgery.
