Appointment Policy

The Integrated Vascular Surgery Residency Program complies with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) institutional and program requirements for resident eligibility and selection.

Pre-Employment Verifications:

After you match into the Integrated Vascular Surgery Residency Program, the offer of employment is contingent on satisfactory findings from all pre-employment verifications, which include:

  • Criminal background file review
  • Medical license verification and credentialing review (if you have held a medical license previously)
  • Pre-employment examinations
  • Physical examination
  • Confirmation or administration of required immunizations
  • Urine drug test: If your drug test is positive for the presence of drugs, your employment offer will be immediately rescinded and you will not be eligible to apply for employment with any UPHS corporation for twelve (12) months.

Residents of the Integrated Vascular Surgery Residency Program are required to have a medical training license from the Board of Registration in Medicine of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Effective January 2, 2014, physicians applying for an initial limited license will be required to pass USMLE Step 1 and Step 2, CK and CS, or the first two levels of COMLEX.

Licensing for House Staff Entering an ACGME Accredited Program:

All ACGME accredited programs at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania require a Medical Training License.

All applications for Medical Training licenses MUST be submitted by the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Each year the MT application is released by the State. Once you are accepted into the Integrated Vascular Surgery Residency Program, the coordinator will email you the application to begin the licensing process. If you have previously held a Pennsylvania Medical Training license, you can request a renewal form from your coordinator.
