Work Environment Policy

The Department of Surgery is committed to providing an educational and work environment in which housestaff may raise and resolve issues without fear of intimidation or retaliation. Program Directors and the Vice Chair of Education maintain an open door policy to address any complaints from housestaff in a confidential and protected manner. The Department encourages housestaff to participate in the housestaff committee in an effort to improve communication among programs within UPHS and effect changes in their work environment at an institutional level.

All Surgery Training Programs follow the guidelines outlined in the UPHS Housestaff Work Environment Policy. (GME Policy #11-K intranet only).
