Penn Trauma is pleased to present, with The Department of Pastoral Care and Education the Second Trauma Workshop for physicians, nurses, paramedics, security personnel, social work, registration personnel, anyone interacting with Trauma patients and their loved ones.
What is the Second Trauma?
The emotional trauma/upheaval of the family when a loved one suffers a life-threatening injury or sudden illness. The first trauma is to the patient—the second trauma is to the family of the adult or pediatric patient.
What is the Second Trauma Program?
Second Trauma is an ATS (American Trauma Society) program designed to help emergency caregivers to relate effectively to highly stressed family members and significant others.
