The Trauma Center at Penn, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the faculty and administrative staff of the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania have long been considered a model of trauma and critical care at a national and international level. The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is accredited by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation as a Level I Regional Resource Trauma Center and recently was acknowledged as a "model program" for the nation. The faculty of the Division of Traumatology, Surgical Critical Care and Emergency Surgery consists of 14 staff members and care for patients at both the Trauma Center at Penn and our newest Level II center, The Reading Hospital and Medical Center. On an annual basis our faculty care for over 8,000 injured patients within our region. Administrative staff provide the faculty with continued high level support to assist them in all clinical, educational and academic pursuits.
