VASCULAR SURGERY and
ENDOVASUCLAR THERAPY

Education Session Attendance

Attendance and participation in the weekly Vascular Conference (Mondays from 7:00pm to 8:00am), monthly Surgery Grand Rounds (Thursdays, 7:30am to 8:30am) and weekly Surgery Morbidity-Mortality Conference (Thursdays, 7:00am - 8:30 am; when Grand Rounds is not scheduled) is required of all vascular surgery housestaff except for EMERGENCY clinical duties. Request for an excused absence which has occurred due to emergency clinical duties must be submitted in writing (email) to the Program Director of the Vascular Residency with a copy to the Office of Academic Affairs within eight (8) hours of the absence. This will be verified by the DSE office with a senior resident and/or faculty member. .Requests for excused absences will not be accepted after 8 hours following the absence. Excused absences for non-emergency reasons must be cleared in advance in writing with the Program Director.

An attendance database is kept by the DSE who provides quarterly reports to the Program Director and Chairman. Attendance at surgical conferences is noted on resident bi-annual performance review.

Residents on the following assignments are excused automatically:

Vascular Conference: Vacation, Clinical Trips, Research Trips.

Surgical Grand Rounds: Vacations, Clinical Trips, Research Trips.

Surgical Morbidity and Mortality: Vacations, Clinical Trips, Research Trips.
