Performance evaluation of vascular residents involves quarterly written clinical evaluation by the Faculty. Residents can review their individual evaluations at any time and all receive reports. Data are also collected from the medical students rotating through surgery on the teaching abilities of the residents. The vascular resident provides periodic feedback on Faculty teaching and the program.
The Department of Surgery maintains an ongoing system of standardized evaluations of resident performance:
- Quarterly written performance evaluations by all Faculty. These evaluations are available for the residents' review at any time. Quarterly quantitative and comparative summaries are provided to the residents and the Program Director.
- Ongoing consultation with the Program Director through monthly meetings.
- Performance appraisal for the Vascular Surgery residents in the Department of Surgery is the responsibility of the Program Director. Such appraisals include regular written evaluations, annual written Advisors' summaries.
- A written summary of performance by the Director of the Vascular Residency Program with input from the Vascular Faculty becomes part of the residents' permanent record.
