Personnel Policy

Residents and fellows may suffer an adverse personnel action for violation of the policies, procedures, or requirements of the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Department of Surgery, or accrediting body, including applicable policies and procedures within the Hospital Policy Manual for Employees. Such adverse personnel actions may also occur for inadequate academic performance and/or failing to adhere to appropriate patient care, ethical, academic or professional standards. Personnel actions of all surgical residents will be handled in concert with this Policy. The Department Chairman, the Program Director, the Division Chief and the Director of Surgical Education are responsible for implementation of the policy. The vascular resident is subject to all departmental regulations and policies in addition to those specific to the vascular residency.
