| Heart
failure is a worldwide health challenge with escalating
mortality. Current therapies are largely limited to pharmacologic
optimization, revascularization, and reconstructive or replacement
options. Novel strategies to limit and potentially reverse cardiac
pump failure are greatly needed. In existence since 2002, our
laboratory focuses on the development and implementation of
innovative strategies to limit cell death after cardiac injury,
augment endogenous cardiac repair mechanisms, and develop bioengineered
tissue in the treatment of congestive heart failure. |

laboratory led by a clinically active cardiac surgeon, our laboratory
focuses on research which can be directly translated to the clinical
realm: |
