Apply for Clowes Memorial Research Career Award by August 3

The Clowes Fund, Inc., Indianapolis, Indiana, supports a five-year award to support the research of a U.S. or Canadian Fellow or Associate Fellow of the College who shows promise as a young surgical investigator. The nonrenewable stipend for the award is $45,000 for each of the five years. Applications are due August 3.

The Scholarships Committee will give preference to applicants who have received investigator-initiated, peer-reviewed, federally funded research awards (for example, NIH R01/K08/K23, VA Merit Review, and Canadian Institutes of Health Research grants). Apply by July 15 for ACS Young Fellows Association Mentoring Program

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) Young Fellows Association is seeking applications from mentors and mentees until July 15 for the Mentorship Program. This opportunity will allow early-career surgeons to develop a mentoring relationship with established surgeons practicing in all the specialties represented within the ACS.

This year’s mentoring program will include up to 20 mentor/mentee pairs who must attend the ACS Clinical Congress 2015, October 4−8, in Chicago, IL. Mentee applicants to the program must be either ACS Fellows or currently in the process of applying for ACS Fellowship and be 45-years-of-age or younger. Interested applicants can fill out the online application.

The committee also is seeking qualified mentors. Interested applicants can fill-out the online application.

All applicants will be notified by August 15 regarding the status of their application.

Submit Abstracts for SESC Congress Annual Scientific meeting by July 9

The Southeastern Surgical Congress (SESC) invites qualified surgeons, residents, medical students, and surgical fellows to submit abstracts of papers to be considered for presentation at the SESC 2016 annual Scientific Meeting, February 20−23, 2016, at the Hyatt Regency, Atlanta, GA. EAST Accepting Award Nominations and Scholarship Applications

John PryorThe Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST) is accepting nominations and applications for several awards and scholarships. Nominations for the 2016 John P. Pryor, MD Distinguished Service Award are due October 31. Letters of Intent for the EAST Foundation’s Trauma Research Scholarship and the John M. Templeton, Jr., MD Injury Prevention Research Scholarship are due August 15. Essays for the Oriens Award—This Is Why I want a Career in Trauma—are due October 31.
