We specialize in the management of benign
and malignant diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands.
As active participants in the “Thyroid Interest Group”
at PENN we provide a multidisciplinary approach to the management
of thyroid disorders. By attending national conferences, we bring
new technology and modern approaches back to the bedside to provide
the best treatment for our patients. We perform minimally invasive
parathyroidectomies on appropriate patients by utilizing pre-operative
localization studies and intra-operative parathyroid hormone monitoring.
Additionally, for certain disorders of the parathyroid glands, we
utilize a more traditional approach of a four gland exploration
in order to appropriately treat all of our patients. We also treat
the majority of benign adrenal lesions laparoscopically thereby
sparing our patients from large incisions and limiting the required
length of their hospital stay. When necessary we are also skilled
in “open” approaches to adrenal surgery for patients
with malignant diseases.
