![]() Presbyterian Medical Center of the University of Pennsylvania Health System As of June 30, 1995, the Presbyterian Medical Center of Philadelphia has merged with the University of Pennsylvania Health System. This medical center has been a teaching affiliate of the University of Pennsylvania for over 25 years and plays a major role in the training of medical students. A 344-bed acute care hospital, Presbyterian provides students with challenging clinical experiences typical of a big-city medical center. Currently, students are assigned to the services of medicine and surgery. All members of the staff hold faculty appointments at the School of Medicine. Presbyterian is home to several specialized patient-care services, including the Philadelphia Heart Institute and the Scheie Eve Institute.
