Ari D. Brooks, M.D. is the Director of Endocrine and Oncologic Surgery and Director of the Integrated Breast Center at Pennsylvania Hospital.  Dr. Brooks is a fellowship-trained surgical oncologist with a special interest in breast, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, melanoma and sarcoma.

Dr. Brooks completed a 6-year premedical-medical program at Boston University and Hahnemann University School of Medicine, residency in surgery at NYU Medical Center and fellowship in Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Upon completion of his training, he was recruited to MCP/Hahnemann University, now Drexel University College of Medicine, where he achieved the rank of Professor of Surgery.
While at Drexel, he repeatedly received the Golden Scalpel Award for teaching of surgical residents. He is consistently listed as a Top Doctor in Philadelphia Magazine and Castle Connolly editions.

Dr. Brooks is a member of many professional societies and has more than 60 publications.
He was director of the Surgical Research and Translational Bioengineering Lab at Drexel.  His interest in collaboration with Biomedical Engineering continues here at Penn.  He is the author of multiple patents, and has helped develop multiple devices that are currently in clinical trials in breast cancer patients.

Dr. Brooks is the principal investigator on numerous grants, including a Susan G. Komen Foundation grant entitled “The Healthy Woman Project”, which has provided free breast cancer screening to the underserved women of Philadelphia for over 10 years.
