Dr. Guzzo is a graduate of Temple University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery internship and urology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Guzzo completed a two year fellowship at the James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute of the Johns Hopkins Hospital in urologic oncology. During his fellowship he also earned a Masters in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is extensively trained in the treatment of all aspects of urologic malignancies including open, laparoscopic, endoscopic and robotic surgical treatment for such malignancies.

Dr. Guzzo’s clinical areas of expertise include the surgical treatment of prostate, bladder, kidney and testicular cancer. There are many options for patients with urologic cancer and because Dr. Guzzo’s expertise includes open, endoscopic, laparoscopic and robotic surgery he is equipped to individualize treatment options for patients with a wide range of urologic malignancies. Additionally, Dr. Guzzo is a collaborator with the proton therapy program at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Guzzo is a member of the American Urologic Association and the American College of Surgeons. He is actively involved in urologic research having published over 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts and five book chapters. Additionally, he has presented multiple clinical research abstracts at both national and international meetings. He was the recipient of the prestigious Prostate Cancer Foundation Young Investigator Award in 2009. Dr. Guzzo’s areas of research interest include patient reported outcomes and quality of life after urologic cancer surgery.
