A board certified general surgeon, Dr Kelz’ interests include minimally invasive parathyroid and thyroid surgery. In addition to Endocrine surgery, Dr Kelz is dedicated to the advancement of high quality care through the use of innovative educational tools and health services research.  Dr Kelz, an Associate Program Director of the General Surgery Program, is a champion for resident and medical student education within the Department of Surgery. As the surgeon champion for ACS-NSQIP at HUP, she is intimately involved in the delivery of quality surgical care as defined by surgical outcomes. She is the Director of the ACS NSQIP Quality In-Training Initiative.  Her current work places her at the intersection of medical education, surgical outcomes and quality surgical care.

Dr. Kelz obtained her Masters in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Pennsylvania in order to pursue Heath Services Research. She is the Director of The Center for Surgery and Health Economics.
