Dr. Jackson attended Haverford College, graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Physics in 1991. He then received a research fellowship from the Department of Engineering Physics in the School of Engineering at the University of Virginia, graduating in 1993 with a Master's of Science. He subsequently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 2000. He completed his general surgery residency in 2006, and is certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Jackson’s research interests include cardiovascular physiology and imaging. His current projects involve the imaging of three-dimensional cardiovascular structures, especially using real-time three-dimensional echocardiography.
