| Dr.
Cooper received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College,
summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and his medical degree from Harvard
Medical School, cum laude. After completing an internship and residency
in surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, he served as
Senior Registrar in Thoracic Surgery, South Regional Hospital Board,
Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, England. Returning to Massachusetts
General Hospital, he served as Senior Assistant Resident and Chief
Resident in Surgery. He then completed a fellowship in the Department
of Medicine, Hammersmith Hospital, London, England and subsequently
was a Clinical and Research Fellow in Thoracic Surgery, Massachusetts
General Hospital.
Dr. Cooper currently serves as an active member
of numerous professional societies, including the International
Society for Heart Transplantation, the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation,
the Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons, The American Association
for Thoracic Surgery, The American College of Surgeons, The American
College of
Chest Physicians, The American Society of Transplant Surgeons, The
American Surgical Association, The American Thoracic Society, The
European Society of Thoracic Surgeons, The International Society
for Diseases of the Esophagus, The Royal College of Surgeons of
England, The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, The Society of University
Surgeons, and The Transplantation Society.
Dr. Cooper is on the editorial board of Clinical
Transplantation, the Journal of the American College of Surgeons,
Transplantation Proceedings, and Transplantation Today. He also
is the author of more than 380 original articles. |
