New Research
Continuing evaluation of skin type, amount of laxity, amount
of shifts at surgery correlated with long term outcome in face
lifts. Evaluation of methods
of lower lid support in lower blepharoplasty.
Studies of Craniosynostosis: studies
have been initiated to develop a constraint model. If successful,
the molecular events following constraint induced synostosis
will be elucidated. Clinical studies on extents of craniosynostosis
and positional plagiocephaly in infants.
Ongoing Research
Continuing two dimensional analysis of human form with the
addition of three dimensional analysis based on the continuing
collection of photographs that are life-sized, and three dimensional
CT scans that each child has before craniofacial surgery.
The study will continue indefinitely.
Research is continuing on a longitudinal
study of growth and development of patients having craniofacial
surgery. The study is in conjunction with a physical anthropologist
in the Facial Reconstruction Center and the Center for Human
Appearance.
In conjunction with psychology, the
evaluation of body image following aesthetic surgery is ongoing. |
