Dr. Pechet completed college and medical school at Harvard University, and trained in general surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School, and is board certified in general surgery. He trained in Thoracic Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis, and is a board certified thoracic surgeon. He is Vice Chief of Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center-Presbyterian, and practices all aspects of general thoracic surgery. His clinical interests include all areas of thoracic oncology, including advanced lung and esophageal cancers, as well as end-stage lung disease. He has a special interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques, and is experienced in the surgical treatment of esophageal reflux, benign esophageal diseases and hyperhidrosis. He frequently performs minimally invasive lung cancer operations such as VATS lobectomies, and is interested in adapting advanced video technologies to the operating room. He also is experienced in tracheal surgery and interventional bronchoscopy, including palliative care. He has a major interest in clinical research, focusing on improving outcomes following surgery. He is active in the PMC Thoracic Research Laboratory and in development of a lung cancer vaccine. He is a fellow of numerous national surgical societies.
