with total population in excess of 15million. In FY09,
over 8,000 injured patients were evaluated as part of
our total network with the largest increase in volume
occurring at our newest Level II center, The Reading
Hospital and Medical Center. The UPHS Trauma Network
works to optimize care of the injured patient on a regional
basis while promoting the operational efficiency and
regulatory compliance of the trauma centers within the
affiliation. The Network utilizes the skills and expertise
of the HUP Level I Trauma faculty and staff through
comprehensive on-site training and development of other
trauma centers in the region.
With round the clock support from
in-house trauma surgeons and emergency medicine physicians,
as well as the dedicated support from the members of
the departments of anesthesia, orthopedics, neurosurgery,
and rehabilitation, as well as our trauma nurses and
support staff, the Trauma Center at Penn is able to
offer our patients the highest level of care.
We hope that this website serves
as a useful tool to the many resources of our Division
including, the Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship,
the Office of Life Support Education, and the Firearm
and Injury Center at Penn.
