Solutions to common Knowledge Link questions and issues are listed below.

Please note: Some Knowledge Link issues can be resolved by closing all browser windows and re-opening the browser. Also, please be sure your browser is configured properly. (Refer to "" below.)

  • General Questions
  • You can log in to Knowledge Link by opening a browser window and going to "knowledgelink.upenn.edu". On the login page, you can choose to go to the Learning Portal, or select the option to Login to Knowledge Link directly. (For more information on the portal, please visit the Learning Portal FAQ page.)

  • Use the configuration instructions in the documents referenced below:

      DO NOT use Safari, Internet Explorer (any version), Firefox, Opera, or other browsers. Other browsers are not approved for UPHS courses. We recommend using Chrome or MS Edge. If you cannot download or install Chrome or MS Edge yourself, please contact the Service Desk to request installation.  

     

  • The Learning Portal is mainly for "dual users" -- users who are University and PSOM faculty and staff who also work in the Health System (UPHS). The portal combines all assignments from both Knowledge Link and Workday in one place.

    If you do not use Workday Learning, you can go directly to Knowledge Link from the login screen by clicking the Knowledge Link Login button (see image below). For more information, please visit the Learning Portal FAQ page.



  • Recommendations can be made by a peer, manager, or system administrator. To recommend a course to someone, choose the Recommend button from the course on your learning plan, the course page, or the completion pop-up (image 1 below). Recommendations are optional and can be removed by the employee if desired. Recommendations appear in your Recommendations tile on your learning plan (image 2 below). Click the three dots in the upper-right corner of each recommended course to view your options. For more information, see the Using Recommendations job-aid.



  • Please refer to the document How to Print a Certificate to view all courses that you have completed and print a certificate. If you want to print a transcript of your learning history, use the "Learning Reports" link as shown below.



  • Please refer to the document How to Review eLearning from Learning History. For LinkedIn Learning courses that you have completed, please view the steps here.

  • LinkedIn Learning is an online video service that provides access to thousands of courses and tutorials taught by experts and industry leaders. Employees may use LinkedIn Learning to learn a new subject or brush up on an existing skill you already have. For more information, please go to our LinkedIn Learning Frequently Asked Questions page.

  • Access or Login Issues
  • Knowledge Link has regular weekly maintenance from 11:00pm Saturday to 3:00am Sunday. If you are attempting to access Knowledge Link during those times, please try again after 3:00am Sunday. Otherwise, please submit a support ticket with details and screenshots of the issue.

  • Please use the UPHS Login Option. If you are off-site, please ensure you have set up DUO authentication for the UPHS login. For PennKey-specific  support, please go to the UPHS PennKey support page.

  • Please note: PennKey DUO and UPHS DUO are not the same. Do not use PennKey. Please use the UPHS Login Option. If you are off-site, please ensure you have set up DUO authentication for the UPHS login.

  • Please submit a support ticket with details and screenshots of the issue.

    In the meantime, do not use the portal and log in directly to Knowledge Link.

  • The manager assigned to you in Knowledge Link is inactive. This information comes from PennforPeople and must be reviewed by HRIS. Please submit a support ticket with details and screenshots of the issue. In the meantime, log in to Knowledge Link only after 10:30 am.

  • Connect to any internet source. You DO NOT need to be connected to VPN, unless the course specifically states that it is necessary. Close all browser windows, then open a new browser window and go directly to Knowledge Link. PennKey not working? Use your UPHS login credentials or review additional PennKey resources and information. Don’t have a Knowledge Link account? Please contact your local HRIS representative and ensure that your HR records are entered into PennforPeople AND are being sent to Knowledge Link. Once this is confirmed, please wait 24-48 hours before attempting to log in to Knowledge Link. Make sure your browser is set up properly. Follow the exact steps in the configuration document for either MS Edge or Google Chrome. Do not use other browsers.

  • Information is Incorrect
  • This information comes from PennforPeople and must be reviewed by HRIS. Please submit a support ticket with details and screenshots of the issue.

  • Course Issues
  • In most cases, closing all browser windows and re-opening the browser will solve this issue.

    If the issue is not resolved, please submit a support ticket with details and screenshots of the issue.

  • Please consult the document How to Remove a Course from your Learning Plan. The steps will show how to remove the course yourself, or will show you who you need to contact to remove the course.

  • For instructor-led (ILT) classes, please contact the course contact or instructor. See How to Get Completion Credit (page 3) for details.

    For LinkedIn Learning courses, please go to this link.

    For eLearning courses, please follow the steps exactly as outlined in either for either MS Edge or Google Chrome. Do not use other browsers. Then refer to How to Get Completion Credit (page 1).

  • Please refer to the job-aid: How to Enroll in or Withdraw from a Class.

    If the issue cannot be resolved, please contact the person or department that owns course. This information is usually found in the course description.

  • Links for virtual classes are typically found in the email notification and/or calendar invite you received when you enrolled. The email may also include instructor contact information. If you cannot locate the email or the information isn't in the email, you will need to contact the course owner. Click the title of the course to open the course description. The contact is either listed on the left-hand side or in the description itself.

  • Please search the Knowledge Link library for the course.

    If the issue is not resolved, please submit a support ticket with details and screenshots of the issue.

  • This issue most often occurs when a manager assigns a LinkedIn Learning course not realizing the employee has already completed it. It is not possible to "retake" LinkedIn Learning courses. You will need to ask the person that assigned the course to remove it from your learning plan.

  • Administrator Issues
  • Please complete the Knowledge Link Request Form and select the option to "Request administrator access."

  • Contact your local lead Knowledge Link admin for questions.
